Arusha National Park
Tanzania
Arusha National Park is a small park close to Arusha town with three very different areas: the Ngurdoto Crater, the Momella Lakes and the forested slopes of Mount Meru. It is a good short trip at the start or end of a longer safari.

- Arusha Region, northern Tanzania
- Best time
- Jun to Feb
- Known for
- Mount Meru, colobus monkeys and walking safaris
Wildlife & Animals
Giraffe, buffalo, zebra, warthog and many monkeys live here. The black-and-white colobus monkey is a highlight in the forest. Walking safaris with a ranger are possible, which is rare on the Northern Circuit.
Birds
The Momella Lakes attract flamingos and many water birds, and the forest holds turacos, trogons and other forest species.
Best Time To Visit
The park can be visited all year. The clearest views of Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro are usually in the dry months from June to October and from December to February.
Getting There
The park is only about 45 minutes from Arusha town and about an hour from Kilimanjaro International Airport, which makes it easy to fit in on arrival or departure day.
