The Heart of African Adventure
Discover
Tanzania is home to the Serengeti plains, Mount Kilimanjaro, the Ngorongoro Crater and the beaches of Zanzibar. Here is what makes it special.
Welcome to Tanzania
Tanzania sits on the east coast of Africa, between the Indian Ocean and the Great Lakes. It is a country of open plains, volcanic highlands, rainforest and white sand beaches.
Many visitors combine a wildlife safari in the north or south with a few days of rest on the Zanzibar coast. Kiswahili and English are widely spoken.
Unique wildlife
Tanzania protects some of the best wildlife areas in Africa. The Serengeti is known for the Great Migration, and the Ngorongoro Crater is a natural amphitheatre full of animals.
You can also look for elephants in Tarangire, chimpanzees in the west and large predators in the southern parks.
Diverse lands
Few countries pack so many landscapes into one trip. Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa, Lake Manyara and Lake Natron are famous for birdlife, and the coast offers reefs and islands.
The seasons shape your plans, so tell us when you can travel and we will suggest where to go.
Tanzanian culture
Tanzania is home to many communities, each with its own traditions, food and music. Visits to local villages, markets and Stone Town in Zanzibar show a side of the country beyond the parks.
We can add cultural visits to your safari. Please travel respectfully and ask before taking photos of people.
