The park is known for its tree-climbing lions, although they are not seen on every visit. You can also expect elephants, giraffe, buffalo, hippos, large troops of baboons and blue monkeys in the forest.
Birds
Manyara has more than 400 bird species. When the water level is right, thousands of flamingos and pelicans gather along the lake shore.
Best Time To Visit
Wildlife is easiest to see from June to October. Birdlife is at its best in the wetter months, roughly from November to June, when migrant species arrive and the lake is full.
Getting There
Lake Manyara is about two hours by road from Arusha and is often combined with Tarangire or visited on the way to Ngorongoro and the Serengeti.
